Bouzoukis, Mandolas, and Mandolins This family of instruments employs the body shape of a 1924 Washburn mandolin with carved or stave back. The string length of the bouzoukis is 650mm, and it is available with two finger board widths: 34mm for Greek style, or 38mm for Irish (for more chordal style playing). Mandola string length is 545mm with a 33mm nut. My handmade tailpieces, of exotic woods and brass, will accommodate either loop or ball-end strings.
Fine quality tuners and electronic elements are used along with a handmade traditional oil varnish/ French polish. Wood choices include sound board of high altitude Englemann spruce, and back of solid claro walnut or maple. Alternatively, a stave back model is available for an additional cost of $200. Necks are African mahogany or figured maple.
Arch Top Guitars Based on an original pattern, this compact semi-hollow-body produces a sweet and woody tone, and has a slightly wider than usual neck to accommodate finger-style players. They are available with fingerboard pickups and/or piezo bridge pickups. Their necks are made of mahogany, and fingerboards of Macasser ebony.
Choice of wood includes claro walnut, flamed or bird's eye maple with Englemann spruce sound board (with lacquer finish).
